BT Expedite multichannel retail solutions

News and Events

DW Sports Fitness Clubs, the former JJB Sports chain of fitness clubs, has signed a five-year contract worth up to £2.75 million with BT to implement its Connected Retailer suite of multichannel applications.

DW Sports Fitness acquired JJB Sports fitness clubs and an additional 50 Retail stores across the UK earlier this year and a further six openings are scheduled to be completed by January 2010.

BT Expedite, BT’s retail specialist division, will provide a point of sale solution, pre-integrated with sales analytics to standardise transaction information across the different channels, providing an accurate view of DW Sports Fitness sportswear sales.

DW Sports Fitness will also be the first retailer to benefit from FrescaCommerce Express, the pre-configured version of BT’s FrescaCommerce Platform – which will enable it to set up a transactional web site in just twelve weeks. The second phase of the project will see the store and web channels integrated to provide a seamless customer experience.

All this is being provided on a simple IP networking backbone allowing the store and fitness clubs low cost and seamless communication.

The solution is also managed by BT who are supplying a comprehensive managed service for the total software and network solution, including 1st to 4th line service desk support to the business, hardware maintenance, proactive monitoring and management of the solution focussing on the prevention of potential issues before they develop and impact business operations.

Dave Whelan, chairman of DW Sports Fitness, said: “With 50 retail stores across the UK we were keen to invest in a robust solution that can grow and adapt with us into the future. BT’s solution provides us with the flexibility we need to expand our business over time.”

BT Expedite CEO, Rich Lowe, said: “We’re delighted that DW Sports and Fitness Clubs have selected BT Expedite’s multichannel Connected Retailer and look forward to working with them as they grow their business.”
